DEARBORN– On
Wednesday, March 21, it was officially announced that 19th
District Chief Judge Richard Wygonik has appointed Dearborn criminal
and family law attorney Adel A. Harb to serve as Magistrate for the
court.
Harb, a 1990 graduate of the Thomas M.
Cooley School of Law, is widely respected family law mediator,
arbitrator, and court-appointed public defender.
As Magistrate for the Court, Harb will
make arraignments in certain circumstances, issue warrants, set bail
in criminal cases, hear civil infractions and small claims cases,
perform marriage ceremonies and other required functions.
“The 19th District court has one of
the busiest dockets in the state and Adel Harb’s experience and
knowledge of the law will be a great asset to the Court and the
people it serves,” Wygonik said.
“I’m pleased that Adel Harb has
accepted this appointment and I look forward to working with him.”
Harb thanked Chief Judge Wygonik for
the appointment and pledged to serve to the best of his ability.
“It’s an honor to be asked to
serve. I pledge to provide the people of Dearborn with carefully
reasoned rulings so that all who come before me believe that they’ve
had the opportunity to be heard and were treated fairly,” Harb
said.
Harb also told The Arab American News
that he plans to run for a Wayne County Circuit Court Judge spot in
November.
