DEARBORN HEIGHTS — On Sunday, April 29, 2012 from noon-5 p.m. H.Y.P.E. (Helping Youth Progress & Excel) Athletics Community, a non-profit organization, will open their doors for the first time ever to the brand new 104,000 sq. ft. Wayne County—H.Y.P.E. Recreation Center, prior to a May 4 ribbon cutting ceremony and formal dinner at 6 p.m.. The Recreation Center is located on Warren Ave. between Ann Arbor Trail and Telegraph Rd. in Dearborn Heights. The new Recreation Center consists of five indoor basketball/volleyball courts, separate men’s and women’s weight training rooms, an indoor track, separate locker rooms, a computer lab, library, classrooms and a health café. Member benefits include group fitness classes, tutoring, mentoring, life skills, career development, health education, substance abuse prevention and much more. The recreation center will act as a safe haven for education and physical fitness.
