DEARBORN HEIGHTS — Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Robert Lee-Curtis Perkins a 19-year old Dearborn Heights Crestwood High School student from Inkster for allegedly carrying a loaded hand gun in his waist band on school property. On May 7, 2012, at approximately 10:45 a.m., a fellow Crestwood High School student received information that the defendant had a weapon. The student immediately notified a teacher and administrators placed the school on lock-down. Dearborn Heights police officers arrived on the scene and placed the defendant under arrest.
Perkins has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon. If convicted he could face five years in prison.
He was also charged with possessing a weapon in a Weapon Free School Zone. He was arraigned this week before Judge Mark Plawecki and received a $130,000 cash or surety bond. The preliminary examination is scheduled for May 16th at 9 a.m.
