DEARBORN — The Rotary Club of Dearborn awarded a total of $16,500 in scholarships to 11 graduating high school seniors from Dearborn Public Schools’ Career and Technical Education Programs at club’s 24th annual Otto J. Rowen Awards May banquet.
The annual awards are made possible through a trust established by Otto J. Rowen and administered by the Dearborn Rotary Foundation for career technical education and special education students. Mr. Rowen was a Dearborn teacher, administrator and Rotarian in the late 1920s.
The scholarship winners in the CTE programs included Automotive—Alaa Younes, Dearborn High School (HS); Business Education—Amira Abouarabi, Fordson HS; Computer Science—Ala’a Tolba, Dearborn Center for Math, Science and Technology (DCMST), Fordson HS; Culinary Arts/Hospitality & Tourism—Ben Lansing, Dearborn HS and Michael Berry Career Center (MBCC), Drafting/Design—David Stretanski, MBCC and Dearborn HS; Family and Consumer Science—Amber Steciak, Dearborn HS; Health Occupations/Allied Health—Asmahan Ahmed, MBCC and Dearborn HS; Information Technology—Anna Stassen, MBCC and Dearborn HS: Marketing Education—Kelsey Fitzgerald, Dearborn HS; Video Production Dimitrius Ramirez, Dearborn HS; and Welding—Patrick Kosin, Edsel Ford HS.
