DEARBORN — Dearborn Police Detectives have currently re-opened a cold homicide case that dates back to July 1991, when Gracielita Flores was murdered in the city’s south end inside of the ACCESS building she was cleaning the facility. Following her murder police had conducted an investigation but no arrests were made in relation to the murder, resulting in the case going cold.
On Thursday Dearborn Police Detectives have confirmed new information that was provided to them from the St. Lucie Florida Sheriff’s Department, which resulted in a warrant arrest for a male suspect named Kelly Michael Brady, a 45-year-old Florida resident. Brady has been charged with 1st degree murder and two counts of felony murder. He is currently being incarcerated in Florida until the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office seeks extradition.
“This was a well coordinated effort with the Lt. Lucie detectives who were instrumental in obtaining the new information,” Police Chief Ronald Haddad stated in a press release.
Prosecutor Kym Worthy added, “The horrific facts in this case illustrate the immediate need to invest in cold case reviews. This case came to us on the proverbial silver platter. We must always return to unsolved cases even if they happened decades before.”
We will report more information on this case as it develops.
