Dearborn resident Fadi Hassan Faraj plead guilty to second-degree murder charges on Friday, May 25 stemming from the killing of another man in July 2011.
The victim was Hassan Zeidan, age 23,
also of Dearborn. Zeidan was shot multiple times by Faraj after an
argument in a parking lot where they had been playing a pickup
basketball game among friends.
Faraj entered the plea in a Detroit
courtroom according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office and is
expected to face between 23 to 45 years in prison, with sentencing
scheduled for June 18.
The case had been delayed by a late
prosecutor and a quick decision by a judge in February 2012 which had
caused great frustration among the Zeidan family; they had to re-file
the case and wait for it to work its way back through the system.
