Pro-Palestinian billboards posted at Metro-North stations around the U.S. are stirring up controversy with many pro-Israeli advocates claiming the billboards message is misleading. The billboards, which are now at 50 Metro-North stations, features Palestine in 1946 before the creation of the state of Israel and in 2010, showing the loss of Palestinian land over the decades. The billboards also have statements that read, “4.7 Million Palestinians are classified by the U.N. as Refugees.”
According to a report former Wall Street financier Henry Clifford paid for the billboards by using $25,000 of his own money. In the report Clifford is quoted as saying that he is “very critical of what Israel has done to the Palestinian people” and that he’s “critical of our government for supporting Israel and enabling it.” The pro-Israel organization, Stand With Us, says they plan on countering the billboards with their own campaign soon.
