DEARBORN — An Arab American man was brutally beaten around noon Thursday after getting involved in a car accident and checking to see whether others involved were fine.

Three vehicles are known to have been involved. One was among several other vehicles driving West on Ford Road in a funeral procession. 

Initially the victim was confronted by a black male who got out of his car after the accident and started yelling. 

The two eventually became engaged in a verbally aggressive argument, that turned physical when the black male and other people in the funeral procession also got out of their cars and started to physically attack him while his three children sat in the vehicle crying hysterically and watching. The Arab man was severally bleeding and rushed to hospital after an ambulance arrived. “There had to be around 20 people who got out of their cars and started punching him, and stomping on him,” Yousif Ramouni an eyewitness said. 

 Passersby stoped to check on the children offering their assistance. The children said their grandmother lived nearby, and wanted to go to her house, after the father gave them permission to, they were taken there. The children appeared to be between the ages of 10-14 years old. 

According to Heather Neilson, who was involved in the accident the funeral was being held for a man who had died in a car accident only five days ago. The victim who was physically assaulted could not give out his name, because of his condition, he appeared to be panicking and shaken.
