DETROIT — Detroit News reporter Leonard Fleming, who covered city hall for the paper, has been removed from the beat after allegations that he threatened to kill State Treasurer Andy Dillon’s ex-wife, after the two reportedly had an affair together.
Carol Dillon filed a Privacy Protection Order weeks ago claiming that Fleming, a veteran reporter sent her a photo of his genitals and told her “that’s what she would be missing” if the two stopped being friends. Dillon, 50, also says Fleming threatened to kill her more than once. Her divorce with the state’s treasurer was finalized in October. The PPO was filed in the Wayne County Circuit Court. Dillon says Fleming harassed her multiple times, and some of the incidents occurred this month. As a Detroit City Hall reporter, Fleming covered Andy Dillon, who became Gov. Rick Snyder’s state treasurer in 2011. The Dillons were married for 21 years.
