SOUTHGATE-The Lebanese Student Associations (LSA) of Wayne State University, University of Michigan Dearborn, University of Michigan Ann Arbor and Oakland University, will be coming together for the first time in a collaborative effort to host their first annual unified gala at the Crystal Gardens banquet hall in Southgate, located at 16703 Fort Street. The venue is expected to accommodate up to 1,000-1,200 guests.
The guest speaker at the event will be Warren David, the current national president of the Arab-American Anti Discrimination Committee (ADC). A total of five $1,000 scholarships will also be awarded to one student from each of the universities being represented at the dinner, as well as a 5th scholarship to another individual student decided by the four groups collectively.
The LSA will also be awarding Joe Bazzi, owner of Byblos Banquets in Dearborn, who will also be serving dinner at the event. Other award recipients will be Hussein Dabaja, owner of Cloud 9 in Dearborn Heights and Ahmad Yaseen, the owner of Sajouna Bakery located in Dearborn Heights. Sajouna will be donating all the sweets at the gala, where they will be launching their new macaroons.
The event will take place Saturday, February 2nd at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door or can be purchased from any LSA board member of the four schools, for $50.00 a person. Proceeds from the gala will be donated to a non-profit Lebanese charity.
