DEARBORN — One local Arab American family here was featured on the 30-minute special, Support at Home, on CBS Detroit Saturday, Jan. 26. The television program focused on support for people with developmental, physical and intellectual disabilities.

The family at the center of the program’s discussion was the Charara family, primarily Rima Charara, who’s received support from Community Living Services. The CLS is a non-profit that provides services to seniors, veterans and people with disabilities in metro Detroit.
The program covered topics such as how to care for family members with disabilities, and what resources and services are available to them. According to CLS, the need for support services for elderly or disabled family members is a growing issue facing Americans.
The video features interviews with Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, State Senator Debbie Stabenow, Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson and Michigan Department of Community Health Director Jim Haveman.
