DEARBORN — On Mar. 21, 120 students at Fordson High School (FHS) will compete in a cooking contest where they will create unique pizzas. Students will work in small groups under staff supervision to create a pizza from scratch. Pizzas will be voted on based on taste, appearance and creativity. The top eight recipes will advance for public voting on Rachel Cooks site, rachelcooks.com, a popular food blog written by local home cook Rachel Gurk.
After two weeks of voting (Mar. 27 – April 10) the winning group of students will be awarded a fantastic prize package of cooking and baking essentials from a number of generous sponsors. Each student’s prize package is valued at over $225, and will include items such as a cutting board, aprons, KitchenAid 5-Speed Hand Blender ($129.99 retail value), King Arthur Flour Baker’s Companion Cookbook, Mixing bowl set and California Pizza Kitchen gift card, valued at $50.
