DETROIT —  Monica Conyers, the former president of the Detroit City Council is out of prison, and now working at an Arab American owned collision shop in Detroit called Metrotech Collision on Michigan Avenue in Corktown.

Conyers was sent to prison for political corruption and was part of a federal probe. Conyers was imprisoned at “Camp Cupcake” in West Virginia. According to reports she was in a halfway house, and applied for the job. Speaking to local media Sam Hussein said he checked Conyers’ resume, and she had “good credentials.” He indicated that he isn’t worried about Conyers’ previous conviction. He says Conyers has paid her debt to society and everyone deserves a second chance. He noted that Conyers is always on time, and doing a great job. Conyers does administrative work at the business that includes answering phones and dealing with insurance claims. She reportedly works 30 hours a week.
