DETROIT —Two of Michigan’s social justice organizations, the Alliance for Immigrants Rights and Reform and the Michigan Organizing Project, officially merged as one organization, and are now officially Michigan United.
The merge occured during Justice Launch 2013, a statewide social justice gathering of more than 500 activists engaged in immigration reform, workers’ rights, and foreclosure prevention.
The event took place recently at UAW Local 600 here.
“The need to keep families in their homes and the need to keep families together are so urgent and great that we have to formally merge our groups,” said Ryan Bates of Michigan United.
He says the combined power of our groups will mean bigger and better representation at the April 10 march in Washington.
