DEARBORN — A local man in Dearborn stopped an attempted robbery at the Marathon gas station located on Ford Rd., in between Telegraph and Outer Drive last week.
Surveillance footage of the incident was captured and aired on WXYZ Channel 7. |
The attempted robber, who appeared to be caucasian, had gone into the gas station and began conversating with store owner Mike Roy, while he was preparing stacks of money for a deposit. The male quickly reached over and grabbed two stacks and began walking out to this vehicle.
Roy, puzzled, began shouting inside of the store that he had just been robbed, when a customer who was also inside of the store ran out to the attempted robber’s car and pulled him out. Several other individuals helped the customer pin the man to the floor before Dearborn Police were called to the scene.
The owner says he was greatful for the customers quick actions during the incident, but stated that the customer wanted to keep a low profile and wouldn’t give his full name. Roy says he has a reward for the customer the next time he comes into his gas station.
