MOSCOW – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has commented on reports of Arab League and UN envoy on Syria Lakhdar Brahimi’s possible resignation, saying he cannot act differently in the current situation. The Arab League “refused any support for negotiations” between the sides of the Syrian conflict and called the government in Damascus “illegal,” Lavrov said, as cited by RIA Novosti. Simultaneously, the league has decided to supply rebels with more weapons, while Brahimi’s assignment was to organize talks, the minister added.
