DEARBORN — The winner of an essay contest, which is open to all high school students, is set to receive a free lap top. The essay competition is part of an event, themed Islamic Awakening and Muslim Unity: Imam’s Vision for the Ummah, which is being held in commemoration of the passing of Imam Khomeini, and will take place at the Islamic Council of America on Saturday, June 1 at 6 p.m. Speakers will include Imam Mohamad Al-Asi and Dr. Sheikh Mansour Leghaei. In addition, the program will also include poetry, a youth speech, prayer and dinner.
The deadline for essay submission is 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, May 25. The contestants are asked to focus the essay on Islamic awakening, as envisioned by Imam Khomeini, and the youth’s role as catalysts for its practical application in society.
