U.S. Rep. Justin Amash (R-03) was third, with Holland Mayor Kurt Dykstra a surprisingly close fourth. Since Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) announced he would not seek reelection in 2014, a dozen Republicans have publicly expressed interest in the seat. Currently, nine Republicans are still exploring candidacies. The automated survey of 1,158 likely Republican primary voters was conducted on Monday, May 20 and has a margin of error of 2.88%.
Rogers outpolled the field in six of Michigan’s 14 congressional districts. Land carried five districts, and Amash won two. Rogers and Land tied in one district.
The poll is a collaborative effort between Murray Communications, a Michigan-based Republican political consulting firm; Portable Insights, a Rhode Island-based opinion research company; and Combat Data Inc., a Michigan-based political data and voter outreach services company.
