DTE Energy customers could see their monthly bills decrease noticeably because of the company’s renewable energy projects. Average residential bills will decrease by $2.57.
The company also announced, on June 5, that its business customers will be paying less, too. Small and medium-sized businesses will save $3.40 to $14.07 on their DTE Energy bills monthly, while large industrial ones, whose surcharges are based on electricity usage and number of electric meters, will be looking at savings of $13.87 to $160.82 on energy every month.
Utilities in Michigan are required to submit a renewable energy plan every two years to the State Public Service Commission.
The Clean, Renewable and Efficient Energy Act, which was passed by the State of Michigan in 2008, requires Utilities to produce at least 15 percent of their power from renewable sources by 2015. g
