DETROIT - Former Detroit Metro Airport CEO and Wayne County Economic Development Director Turkia Mullin lost a legal battle this week to receive lifetime healthcare benefits from the County.
A Wayne County Circuit Court judge ruled that Mullin does not qualify for lifetime medical care from the County, because she was a few days short of the eight-year tenure required to receive such benefits.
She served as the economic development director for the County for seven years, 11 months and 26 days.
Mullin was fired from the airport in October of 2011, just two months after beginning her job, because of a controversial $200,000 severance that she had received after leaving her job at the County.
Mullin had a three-year contract with the airport. She successfully sued airport authorities for $712,000 over the “unjustifiable” termination.
