While currently based in Auburn Hills, Chrysler, which is in the process of merging with Italian automaker Fiat, is being tempted by Tennessee officials to move its headquarters to their state.
Fiat head Sergio Marchionne met with Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam on Sunday, June 16, at a ceremony to mark the expansion of a Fiat factory in Pulaski.
Marchionne asked the people assembled at the event where they would like the company’s new headquarters to be: “I vote right here,” replied the Tennessee governor.
Fiat holds a majority stake in Chrysler, and Marchionne is the CEO of both companies. The companies’ merger could be complete by mid 2014.
