DETROIT — Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) has been named to DiversityInc’s 2013 Top 10 Regional Companies list for the third consecutive year and honored by DiversityInc, as one of the 2013 Top 10 Companies for Blacks. BCBSM was the only Michigan-based company recognized on both lists.
BCBSM has also been ranked as number six on Diversity MBA Magazine’s annual list of “50 Out Front for Diversity Leadership: Best Places to Work for Women & Diverse Managers” ranking list and received special recognition for being both Top 10 Best In Class for Accountability as well as Top 10 Best In Class for Workplace Inclusion.

All companies nominated for DiversityInc awards are evaluated, based on surveys that measure CEO commitment to diversity management, workforce diversity and human capital, corporate/organizational communications and supplier diversity. A total of 893 companies participated in the DiversityInc survey this year, up from 587 applicants in 2012.
Diversity MBA Magazine is a national leadership publication, targeting managers and executives in leadership, professionals, students and the business community and reaches more than 1.75 million subscribers worldwide. The rankings for the 2013 “50 Out Front for Diversity Leadership Companies” list expanded its research evaluations to include companies that implement intentional strategies, based on accountability, succession planning, representation, workplace inclusion, recruitment and board diversity; that allows and encourages managers and women of diverse backgrounds to advance and develop into leadership roles.
