MICHIGAN-In June, the Michigan House of Representatives passed House Bill 4714, which would expand Medicaid in Michigan. It is estimated that more than 400,000 uninsured adults in Michigan will be eligible for medical coverage under this legislation.
“Medicaid expansion is crucial to the health and well-being of Michigan citizens, because it will bring healthcare to the hard working people, who have put in long hours for little pay, but can’t afford to see a doctor, because they don’t have health insurance,” said State Rep. George Darany.
In July, the Senate Government Operations Committee reported a version of HB 4714 to the full Senate chamber for consideration. Senate leadership has indicated that a vote will likely occur at the end of August.
“It is very important that we keep the process moving and get a reasonable bill presented to the governor for signature,” Darany said.
