MIAMI — Florida International University has suspended a fraternity over Facebook posts that referred to selling drugs and hazing new members, officials said.
The Facebook posts were made in a “private” group, created by the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity chapter at FIU, The Miami Herald reported. An anonymous person then took screenshots of about 70 of those posts and emailed them to media outlets and university officials.
“Anyone have a connect for coke,” one group member wrote. “Not me, a friend wants, lol.”
Another post said: “30mg of addy 10 starting tomorrow. 15 for non brothers,” referring to Adderall, a prescription stimulant.
“The university is taking this information very seriously … As a result, the fraternity has been instructed to cease all meetings and events,” FIU wrote in a statement released Wednesday, Aug. 21.
A university spokesperson confirmed the anonymous email sparked FIU’s investigation.
