Amy Yakima, 19, of Northville, qualified on Tuesday, Aug. 27, to the last round of “So You Think You Can Dance” on Fox TV.

Yamika will face Jasmine Harper, of Rochester, N.Y. next week, and if she wins, she will receive $100,000, along with the title of “America’s Best Dancer.” On Tuesday, Sept. 3, the competing dancers will present their final dance on the show, and the winner will be announced the following week.

Winners on the show are voted by the audience via phone, text, or web. 

Yakima takes dance lessons at a studio in Dearborn. She studied at the Noretta Dunworth School of Dance for 14 years, starting at age 3. She graduated from Northville High School in 2011.

“So You Think You Can Dance” premiered on Fox in 2005 and it has become an international franchise. Adaptations of the show have aired in more than 25 countries throughout the world.
