DETROIT — On Friday, Oct. 4, Dr. Mazen Hammoud, Ford Motor Company’s Electrified Powertrain Systems Chief Engineer was honored, among others, as a University of Michigan Alumni “Difference Maker of the Year” award recipient.
For more than 30 years, UM-Dearborn has honored outstanding alumni for their contributions to the University and community. These men and women are “difference makers,” who have continued the University’s legacy of leadership in their lives and careers. They are making a positive impact in their workplaces and communities. Other alumni who were honored were Richard Haddrill, Veronica Grandison, David Stephens, Eric Ham, Ceehl Phillips, and Donovan Rowe.
At Ford Motor Company, Dr. Hammoud leads system sizing, supplier strategy, controls, and calibration for all HEV, PHEV and BEV programs globally, so as to deliver cost effective, best in class fuel economy and superior driving experience.
He joined Ford Research in 1998, where he held leadership positions. Before joining Ford, he spent eight years at General Motors and was awarded the GM Ph.D. fellowship. He was also a faculty member at Lawrence Technological University.
Dr. Hammoud holds a Bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University in engineering, a Master’s degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn in engineering and also earned his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in Mechanical Engineering, along with an MBA in Organizational Behavior from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
