Pop star Lady Gaga has caused controversy among Muslims, with a track titled “Aura,” from her upcoming album “Art Pop,” which critics have said, aims to sexualize Muslim women who wear a burqa.
In the first verse, the dance track, includes the lyrics “I’m not a wandering slave, I am a woman of choice. My veil is protection for the gorgeousness of my face.” The singer follows those words with a chorus that includes the rhyme “Do you wanna see me naked, lover? Do you wanna peak underneath the cover? Do you wanna see the girl who lives behind the aura?”
The singer is no stranger to controversy when it comes to religion. In 2011, the countries of Lebanon and Malaysia banned the sale of her album “Born This Way,” after Christian groups had deemed that the majority of its content was distasteful.
