Reda, 65, shot the women with an AK-47 at Detroit’s Pablo Davis Elder Living Center. Earlier that day, he had a fight with his girlfriend. Reda, reportedly hunted down the women in the nursing home, before killing them at around 5:45 p.m. One of the women he shot was 54 and was killed while sitting outside the building. She passed away at the hospital afterwards. Another 65-year-old woman was shot several times in her apartment where she died.
Reda’s ex girlfriend was not harmed, but was at the scene as the events unfolded. Detroit resident Paul Frantangelo says he was sitting outside the West Vernor Highway apartment complex with the 54-year-old victim when the gunman confronted him.
Frantangelo says Reda told him to get on the ground and start praying. According to reports, there have been several complaints about Reda in the past to management. Sources say he has a violent past and should have been evicted a long time ago. Some say the incident could have been avoided, if management took action sooner.
According to the apartment complex’s lease agreement, no weapons are permitted in the building and possession of them is immediate grounds for eviction. Residents in the complex say Reda has used his gun in the building before and has fired shots from his balcony.
