DEARBORN HEIGHTS — The Islamic House of Wisdom (IHW) held its Semi-Annual Fundraising Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 26.
During the event, the IHW recognized and honored five dignitaries, for their achievements in leadership and service to the community.
The awardees were Judges Sam Salamey, David Turfe and Charlene M. Elder; Dr. Yahya Basha, the founder and president of Basha Diagnostics; and Jack Seman a Christian activist, known for promoting interfaith activities.
The event started with a recitation of the Holy Quran by students of the IHW Arabic School. Dave Abdallah, the chairman of IHW’s Board of Directors, welcomed the guests and briefed them on the IHW’s programs and projects.
Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi explained the services of IHW, which promote education, morality, social outreach, interfaith dialogue and community awareness, and called for more support for the center to continue its mission.
Elahi also encouraged community members to exercise their right to vote in the Nov. 5 municipal elections.
Osama Siblani, the publisher of The Arab American News, distributed the awards to the recipients and praised them for their accomplishments and contributions to the community.
