DEARBORN — On Friday, November 22, The Consul General of Lebanon, Bilal Kabalan, hosted a Lebanese Independence Day Celebration event at Byblos Banquets, where over 500 attendees celebrated the country’s 70th anniversary of its independence from France.

The event was attended by several community leaders, public officials and Lebanese American delegations from neighboring states. Kabalan was presented with various declarations, which included proclamations from Governor Rick Snyder, Wayne Country Executive Robert Ficano and the City of Dearborn.
Kabalan told the crowd of attendees that the 70th anniversary of the country comes at a difficult time. The region has been plagued with instability from the Syrian crisis, which in turn, has led to a humanitarian crisis, economic instability and sectarian violence in Lebanon.
He asked the community to continue its support for Lebanon as the country navigate though this very rough time.
Mr. Kabalan stressed on unity here among Lebanese and Arab Americans to protect their interests and their communities, by engaging the American public, while respecting and adhering to the laws of the land.
He praised Lebanese American contributions to the American society and to the motherland.
