DEARBORN-On Thursday, Dec. 5, a jury found local singer Nasser Mohamad Bazzi, who goes by the stage name Nasser Habib, guilty of several criminal sexual conducts involving his niece, who was a minor at the time of the accusations.
The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office issued a warrant on June 13 for Bazzi’s arrest, after his niece had made the accusations. At the time, he was arrested and released on bond.
Beginning Monday, Nov. 25, a jury was sworn in front of the Honorable Lawrence Talon of the Third Circuit Court and heard evidence from both the State and Attorney Cyril Hall, counsel for Bazzi, over the span of two weeks.
The jury returned a verdict of guilty on six charges, after deliberating for almost six hours. The jury found Bazzi guilty on two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the second degree, and two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the fourth degree. Bazzi is currently being held without bond and awaiting sentencing scheduled for December 19.
