STERLING HEIGHTS — Jihan Damman has become the Michigan representative for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Congress (UNHCR), according to the site Kaldaya.net.
Damman is the first Chaldean woman to hold this prestigious position in the United Nations.
In addition, she’s the president of St. Rita Family Services, Inc. in Sterling Heights, Michigan. She holds Master’s degree in clinical social work and is specialized in treating trauma patients.
The site also reports that Damman is certified from the Harvard Medical School-Global Mental Health for Trauma and Recovery. Those who know refugees that need help can email Damman at Strita@gmail.com.
