Amer Zahr, a popular stand-up comedian and well-respected writer, recently announced the release of his new book, “Being Palestinian Makes Me Smile.” The book is a collection of passages from Zahr’s blog, “The Civil Arab,” and is a combination of diary, biography, political analysis, and prose. The passages were compiled from Zahr’s blog over the last four years. The book is now available for purchase on Amazon.com.
It chronicles his views and experiences as a Palestinian-American comedian and contains passages describing Amer’s feelings, often through comedy, about issues plaguing Palestinians. Zahr, the son of Palestinian refugees, was born in Jordan and raised in the United States. Politics and serious issues facing Arab Americans are discussed frequently in his blog postings.
He has appeared on radio and television, including ABC’s Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, and performed stand-up comedy throughout North America and the Middle East.
He holds a BA in History and a MA in Middle East Studies, both from the University of Michigan, and is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. For more on Zahr, and his upcoming comedy shows or to view his most recent blog postings visit www.civilarab.com.
