DEARBORN HEIGHTS — The Islamic House of Wisdom (IHW) hosted a discussion for the 35th anniversary of the victory of Islamic Revolution in Iran last Saturday, February 8.
A known public speaker, Imam Mohammad Asi from Washington D.C., and Imam Mohammad Ali Elahi, the founding imam of IHW, were the main speakers at the gathering.
Imam Elahi went through some of his personal observations of the day of the victory, which took place on February 11, 1979. He called the development a divine miracle.
Focusing on the life, leadership and legacy of Imam Khomeini, Elahi emphasized on faith, fearlessness, devotion and determination. Imam Khomeini was ready to pay any price to do his duty. Elahi added that the power of Imam Khomeini was not just his political vision and wisdom, but his faith and moral might.
Khomeini was an exceptional religious authority who combined religion and reason, morality and modernization, purification and civilization. He also wrote hundreds of books and articles on many aspects of life, jurisprudence, philosophy and society.
The discussion also focused on the achievements of the Islamic revolution. The establishment of the first republic based on mass vote and participation, free elections, the first Islamic Constitution, opportunity for education and progress and also that currently more than 4 million students study in Iranian universities has since been achieved.
Elahi asked the Muslim community to help remove the present tensions between Iran and the U.S. and to bring better understanding between the two nations and pave the way for building bridges of understanding, peace and cooperation in the Middle East and the world.
