DETROIT – In a countywide push to enroll residents in the Affordable Care Act and Healthy Michigan (Medicaid expansion) health coverage plans, the Wayne County Health and Human Services Department will be hosting enrollment events this March. 

The first event takes place Wednesday, Mar. 19 at Cobo Hall in Detroit from 9.m. to 4 p.m. The second event is Saturday, Mar. 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wayne County Community College District’s Western Campus in Belleville. 

Federally certified health navigators will provide free, individualized assistance to those seeking help enrolling in health plans. The deadline for purchasing insurance for most individuals this year is March 31, with coverage taking effect by May 1. 

Those attending are asked to bring proper documentation: driver’s license or identification card; social security number; proof of income/unemployment benefits for family members; and any existing health insurance information.
