CANTON — There is only month left before the citizenship application is extended to 21 pages on May 5. The current application is 10 pages long. Nationally, there are approximately 8.8 million immigrants currently eligible for citizenship. Immigrant rights activists are encouraging people to apply for their citizenship within the next month to avoid filling out the longer version of the application.
The Michigan New Americans Campaign is hosting a naturalization workshop April 5 at the Canton Community Foundation Human Service Building. The workshop will be held on the first floor. Those who are interested in attending should bring a copy of their Permanent Resident Card, also known as a green card, two passport style photos, a driver’s license or state identification card and social security number in addition to a list of where they have lived and worked over the last five years.
