DETROIT—A group of property owners in downtown Detroit will establish a $4 million annual fund to provide additional street cleaning and landscaping improvements in the central business district.
The program, Downtown Detroit Business Improvement Zone (BIZ), will replace Clean Downtown program and cover more areas of the city.
BIZ will cover the city’s Business District, which includes the area between the Detroit River, M-10, I-75 and I-94.
Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan praised the city council for approving BIZ as a nonprofit. “This BIZ is a huge win for Detroit,” he said in a statement.
