DEARBORN — Iraqi Americans in southeast Michigan and states across the country are gearing up to vote in Iraq’s 2014 parliamentary elections this weekend. The elections will take place April 30 in Iraq. In Michigan, Iraqis will cast their votes Sunday, April 27 and Monday, April 28 at two different polling stations.
The Dearborn polling station’s location has changed. The address and name of the previous location was Eastern Club, 3350 Wyoming Street Dearborn, Michigan 48120. Iraqi American voters will now cast their ballots at Greenfield Manor in Dearborn, located at 4770 Greenfield Road, Dearborn, Michigan 48126.
The location for the second polling station in metro Detroit has not changed and is still at Royalty House of Warren, 8201 E. 13 Mile Road Warren, Michigan 48093. Voting hours for the two locations were previously 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Now polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. during both days.
The elections will determine the 328 members of the Council of Representatives, who will in turn elect the Iraqi President and Prime Minister.
