INKSTER — Resident Jeralean Talley celebrated her 115th birthday on Friday, May 23. Talley is the oldest living person in the United States. A reception was held in her honor at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church on Sunday, May 25.
Talley is a supercentenarian, an individual who has lived passed the age of 110. She was born in 1899; grew up in Montrose, GA and moved to Michigan in 1935. Her daughter, Thelma Holloway, 76, is her caregiver.
Research shows many of the longest living people have led active lifestyles. Inkster Mayor Hilliard Hampton says there will be an annual day to honor Talley.
