MICHIGAN — A recent poll shows Governor Rick Snyder is taking the lead in the gubernatorial race. Snyder, a republican, is squaring off against democrat Mark Schauer, former U.S. Rep. for the state’s 7th Congressional District.
The report also shows that U.S. Rep. Gary Peters of the 14th Congressional District is ahead in the race for a seat in the U.S. Senate.
Both Peters and republican Terri Lynn Land, who served as secretary of state from 2003 to 2011, are completing for the seat held by democratic Senator Carl Levin since 1978. Levin announced his retirement earlier this year.
According to the poll, conducted by EPIC MRA, republican Attorney General Bill Schuette is leading democrat Mark Totten, a Michigan State University Law Professor. Schuette, elected in 2010, is seeking a second term.
The primary elections will be held August 5 and the general elections will be on November 4.
