DETROIT—Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy endorsed former Detroit Police Chief Warren Evans for Wayne County Executive. Worthy says Evans is the best person to move the county forward.
“He has real law enforcement experience and a clear understanding that the first function of government is to keep its citizens safe,” Worthy said in announcing her support for Evans. “I am convinced that Mr. Evans will be a full collaborative partner with a sincere desire to serve Wayne County.”
Evans has maintained that the prosecutor’s office should be supported fully as part of a larger platform he has outlined for the county. His other plans include better fiscal management, increasing population, shoring up the county’s roads and mass transit and supporting small businesses.
“I’m grateful to have the support of Prosecutor Worthy, as we share a vision for a safer Wayne County,” Evans said.
Safety helps with improving other quality of life issues, Evans added, such as increasing property values and repopulating the county. A May 16 poll showed Evans leading his opponents by double digits.
