CLINTON TOWNSHIP — The four suspects responsible for the March 28 murder of beloved Clinton Township store owner Basil Sulaka say they had no intention of taking his life when they robbed his store.
Sulaka leaves behind a wife and two daughters.
A police investigator testified Monday that the man who fired the fatal shot, Darius Diaz-Gaskin, said he didn’t mean to kill Sulaka.
“He didn’t know he had his finger on the trigger and he thought he had the safety on,” township Detective Dan Quinn said during his testimony, recalling the shooting suspect’s interview with police.
Sulaka’s family didn’t make any comments in court. The four suspects will appear back in court July 21.
