DETROIT — WXYZ-TV is redefining afternoon news with the launch of “The Now Detroit” at 4 p.m., beginning Monday, Sept. 8. The show will be hosted by 7 Action News anchors Glenda Lewis and Brad Galli, with 7 Action News reporter Andy Choi and 7 Action News digital reporter Meghan Brennan. The hour-long show will focus on issues of interest to news consumers in Detroit and across the country.
“The Now Detroit” will feature a mix of local, national, and international news, as well as viral videos, entertainment stories, and lifestyle features. The program will draw viewers into trending conversations, including topics people are sharing across digital and social media platforms.
“Viewers want to know what’s happening right now and they want to engage in a dialogue about the day’s events through social media,” said E.W. Scripps, regional GM and WXYZ vice-president, and general manager Ed Fernandez. “This new show will deliver the information they crave in a fun, fast-paced format on multiple platforms.”
