DEARBORN — The art world meets the outside world, with paintings and sculptures on display around Dearborn.
The Detroit Institute of Arts and the Midwest Sculpture Initiative currently have a combined 22 pieces of art throughout the city. These replica paintings are on display until October, while the sculptures will be scattered though Dearborn until April 2015.
The DIA Inside|Out program, which is funded by the Knight Foundation, is back for its fifth year, showcasing 12 popular works of art around the city.
All the original paintings can been seen on display at the DIA.
“It’s been amazing to see how Inside|Out has grown over the past four years, fostering both creativity and pride among residents within their communities,” DIA Director Graham W. J. Beal said in a press release.
Dearborn is just one of eight cities in Michigan participating in the program.
The others are Detroit, Oak Park, Royal Oak, Wixom, Brownstown, St. Clair Shores and Mt. Clemens. The artwork is placed within biking or walking distance to allow the public easy access to the paintings.

As for the sculptures, each year they are chosen by the Midwest Sculpture Initiative to be put on display throughout Dearborn.
The sculptures are sponsored by the East Dearborn Downtown Development Authority, West Dearborn Downtown Development Authority and the Dearborn Community Fund as part of the “Art Connects Dearborn” project.
A bus tour has been organized for anyone interested in seeing all 22 works of art from east to west Dearborn.
The Indian Summer bus tour will take place on Sept. 21 from. 1 p.m. to. 4 p.m. and will leave from Dearborn City Hall. The $10 price per person will serve as a donation to the Dearborn Community Fund’s program, “art in public spaces.”
