BROOMFIELD HILLS — The Alliance Francaise French Institute of Michigan (AFFIM) will celebrate North African cuisine and belly dancing at the Congregational Church of Birmingham in Bloomfield Hills on Saturday, Sept. 13.
The program will include a show and a class by belly dancer Azziza and a dinner of couscous. North African desserts will be served before the end of the event.
Couscous is one of French people’s favorite foods. It is a traditional dish in North African cuisines composed of steamed semolina spooned with a meat or vegetable stew over it.
Guests are encouraged to wear traditional Tunisian, Algerian oon Moroccan outfits.
The show will start at 4:30 p.m. To make a reservation, call 248.538.5440. Tickets are $35 for adults, $12 for children over the age of 12 and free for children younger than 12. Tickets will not be available at the door.
The Congregational Church of Birmingham is located at 1000 Cranbrook Rd. in Bloomfield Hills.
The Alliance Francaise is a network of French language schools and cultural centers, with more than 1000 independently run committees established in 130 countries and teaching over 400,000 students.
In Michigan, AFFIM’s mission is to “share passionately the French culture and language as an ongoing celebration that keeps the culture alive and promotes friendship among people of our communities.”
