DEARBORN — Ghadeer Alaradi, a 20-year-old University of Michigan-Dearborn (UM-D) junior, is interning at The Arab American News this fall. She is a journalism major and began her internship in September. She has written for UM-D’s newspaper, the Michigan Journal. 

Alaradi is a Bahraini America and lives in Canton. For her first assignment, Alaradi pitched a story about local Bahrainis who fled Bahrain during the island country’s 2011 uprisings. 

As an aspiring journalist, Alaradi said she hopes to help break down some of the negative stereotypes about Muslims and Islam. 

Alaradi is currently the director for marketing and social media at the UM-D’s Students for Islamic Awareness chapter and previously served as the group’s multimedia director.
