PLYMOUTH — Plans for the Plymouth Mosque that was heavily contested by residents who cited increased traffic volumes as a concern about the religious institution being built are moving forward. A study conducted by the Township found traffic would be minimal.
Hundreds attended a Plymouth Township Hall planning commission meeting on Wednesday regarding the issue. According to reports, most people in attendance voiced support for the proposed Rayyan Center mosque. The crowd began applauding when approval for the mosque was announced. The board still needs to approve additional plans for the mosque.
Last week, fliers were mailed to residents, discussing how plans for the mosque should be rejected because of traffic issues. Residents say they don’t know who is behind the letters.
