WARREN — Metro Detroit Youth Day (MDYD) co-founder Edward Deeb recently received the Exemplary Neighborhood Leadership Award from the Detroit Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) for his role in supporting and inspiring metro Detroit youth to do the most good.
Deeb was nominated by peers and chosen by an independent panel of jurors representing community residents and representatives from corporate, philanthropy and public sectors. The Exemplary Leadership Award recognizes an individual who measurably improved the quality of life in the neighborhood through community organizing, community engagement or advocacy.
Deeb has served as an association executive for more than 50 years and is the founder of the Michigan Food and Beverage Association, the Michigan Business and Professional Association, Michigan Youth Appreciation Foundation and is chairman emeritus of the Eastern Market Merchants Association. Deeb also founded the Friends of Eastern Market and co-founded the Eastern Market Corporation.
