DETROIT — On Wednesday, Dec. 24, the Lebanese American Heritage Club (LAHC) and a group of dedicated volunteers served more than 200 warm meals to needy families in metro Detroit at the Neighborhood Service Organization. The LAHC also provided the needy with clothing, blankets and other necessities to help prepare them for this winter. The event was part of the LAHC’s Christmas Giveaway initiative. The food was donated by Joe Bazzi of Byblos Banquet Hall. Paul Abbate, FBI special agent in charge of the Detroit office, was among those who volunteered. Wal-Mart also partnered w with the LAHC to make the event possible.
“Today’s event was a great opportunity to give back and realize all the blessings we have and sometimes take for granted,” said Wasim Mahfouz, the executive director of the LAHC. “To those who have supported this effort, whether it was through a donation or volunteering their time, God bless you.”
