DETROIT—Ali
Siblani, the president and CEO of EnvisionTEC, is one of 25 finalists for
Entrepreneur of the Year, a global business awards program formed by the
consulting firm Ernst & Young.
Eight of the
business executives are based in Detroit and another 17 in the suburbs.
There are also
three finalists from central Michigan and six from West Michigan, including Rick
DeVos, founder and chief executive officer of Start Garden and son of 2006
gubernatorial candidate Dick DeVos.
Each spring, the
business community comes together to celebrate regional semifinalists,
finalists and winners. These honorees not only create and build market-leading
businesses, but also help take the standard of excellence to new heights,
transform the face of industry, create jobs and contribute to the vibrancy of
communities.
The awards are
presented in 60 countries.
Regional panels of
independent judges decide the winners, who will be named in a June 11 gala at
Cobo Center.
The nationwide and
world Entrepreneur of the Year will be named later in the year.
